Irmo Sports Medicine is a comprehensive group of health care providers made up of Physicians, Athletic Trainers, Nurse Practitioners, Physical Therapists, Nurses, and Athletic Training Student Aides. Our goal is to administer high quality health care to the student-athletes of Irmo High School and Irmo Middle School. We provide preventative treatments, immediate first aid, physical therapy, clinical diagnosis, and many other health related treatments. Our goal is to guide the athlete and parents from initial injury through the return to play process as quickly and safely as possible.
Irmo Sports Medicine is directed by Dr. David Koon, MD. He is an orthopedic surgeon at Prisma and a graduate of Irmo High School (1983). There are three Certified Athletic Trainers on staff at Irmo and one Certified Athletic Trainer through Prisma.
